Temora 12th March 2017, the final night of the Cup Carnival was run in some funny weather conditions, hot and sunny to windy dust storm to cold and wet. But it was still a good night had by all.
The races were lead out the same way they did it back in 1957 by a young lady dressed as a marching girl. Kathy Dunn, Kayla McKinnon and Shantae Smith.
Race 1 South West Slopes Credit Union Maiden 330m Final, was taken out by PENGUIN MAN in 19.25 for trainer Barry Hull by ¼ of a length. 2nd was SUPER CLASSY and 3rd WESTSIDE FREAK
Race 2, Temora Shire Council Maiden Final 457m, saw MY GIRL BLACK win easily by 3 ¾ length for Michael Krantis from Bevendale running a time of 27.25, beating CAPTAIN ZERO and HOT PEARL
Race 3, Bill Cross Heating and Cooling 5th Grade Final 330m, had a very close finish with the winner only winning by a nose. DANA WATENE won for Rodney McDonald in 19.49 beating KNOCK ABOUT and JACKSON MAC
Race 4, Hava Car Wash 0-1 win Final was taken out by Wallendbeen trainer Lorraine Roy with TOM HORN in a time of 26.88, with second LES ZARR LEE and third BLINKY’S IDOL
Race 5, Leichhardt Annandale Branch, Gary Sadler/ Alan Lambley Memorial race 457m had DRUM FIRE for Graham Thurkettle win easily by a great length of 5 ¾ lengths in a time of 26.73. 2nd STAGECOACH MARY and 3rd UNO BLISS
Race 6, Molly Harmer Memorial 330m saw the favourite win for Bradley Ashton in 19.10, the only FFA dog in the race and punters new it would win over the lower grade dogs. BEEGUMBAH BURST won by 1 ¾ length from IT”S MY TIME and SILVER WING
Race 7, Coprice Feeds 570m race was sponsored by Coprice Feeds from Leeton and the race was won by NORMIE”S BOY running a time of 34.05 for Julie French by ¾ of a length to ELLIE MAY and TOKEN CODE
Race 8, Ladbrokes Temora GBOTA Cup Final 457m, was a great race and all eyes were on the favourite out of box one, They jumped and the favourite missed the start and it looked all over for him. TO THE GALO’S Jumped in front and lead all the way with the favourite trying to run him down up the home straight but gave him too much lead. TO THE GALO’S won a very good race in 26.44 by 1 length from NANGAR RANGE and VINCE FAWN. TO THE GALO’S is owned by Jetta Can Run Syndicate and Trained by Philip Smith of Pascoe Vale South, a very happy winner too. Race 9, Temora Stayers Stake 732m race was a race we haven’t seen at the track for some years and even though there were a couple of scratching it was still worth watching as they jumped and BRADAM BEGINS went to the lead running a full circle of the track to win by 12 ¼ lengths in 43.50 for trainer Rob Tyler of Hassall Grove, giving this dog two wins in his last 2 starts. 2nd KEEN LOBO and 3rd BAMBI’S REVENGE.
Race 10, Ladbrokes Wagga to Temora 4/5th 457m Final saw BOAMBEE win in 26.98 for Wayne White from Goulburn by 3 ¼ lengths beating OUR JACK and WHO SAID THAT.
Race 11, Young GRC 1-4 Support Stakes 330m saw LITTLE WHACKO win for Leonard Holmes in 19.35 beating OUR EQUITY and TAKE THE SPOT
Race 12, Temora Secretaries race, 330m had DANA MOOCHA win for Rodney McDonald in 19.69 beating STEALTHY QUEEN and RUDRA
